Le président de l’UPA souligne le rôle de l’IA dans les soins de santé lors de la conférence internationale de l’Université du Caire
Cairo, [18.10.2025] – Dr. Hisham Stateet, Chairman of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply, and the Management of Medical Technology (UPA), participated in the inaugural Cairo University International Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The conference was held under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouli and saw extensive participation from local and international ministers, experts, and leading global organizations, including UNESCO, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the World Health Organization (WHO), and numerous academic and research institutions.
The opening proceedings were marked by the presence of several senior dignitaries, including Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, and Dr. Hala Elsaid, Presidential Advisor for Economic Development. The high-level attendance underscored the national priority placed on leveraging advanced technology for development.
High-Level Session on the Egyptian Roadmap
Dr. Stateet participated in a high-level session focused on « AI in Healthcare: The Egyptian Roadmap. » His contribution centered on the UPA’s strategy for integrating AI and digital technologies to enhance efficiency, transparency, and data-driven decision-making within the national health supply chain.
As the entity mandated with Medical Technology Management and leading the institutionalization of Health Technology Assessment (HTA), the UPA is focused on utilizing AI for critical applications, including:
- Demand Forecasting: Using predictive analytics to optimize inventory levels and prevent shortages of essential medicines and supplies.
- Procurement Efficiency: Enhancing the functionality of the MedIQ E-Procurement Portal and data dashboards for faster, smarter tendering and contract execution.
- HTA Support: Applying advanced algorithms to rigorously assess the value and efficacy of new medical technologies before their introduction into the public health system.
The UPA’s participation demonstrates its commitment to fostering innovation and aligning its operational framework with global best practices in digital governance and healthcare technology management, in line with Egypt’s broader digital transformation strategy.
