As part of Egypt’s national efforts to strengthen the local pharmaceutical industry and enhance women’s health, Dr. Hesham State, Chairman of the Egyptian Unified Procurement Authority (UPA), met with a high-level delegation from Organon, a leading U.S.-based global company specialized in women’s health and known for its broad portfolio of innovative and modern products, including various contraceptive methods.
The meeting explored avenues for joint cooperation, with a focus on localizing the manufacturing of Organon’s women’s health products in Egypt, thereby expanding access to high-quality, innovative solutions for women across the country and the African continent. The Organon delegation expressed strong interest in supporting women’s health in Egypt and Africa through technology transfer and the localization of new pharmaceutical products.
Both sides emphasized their commitment to supporting national initiatives focused on women’s health awareness and empowerment—particularly those rolled out across Egypt’s governorates—which play a vital role in promoting safe, modern, and accessible healthcare services for women.
Organon representatives also expressed their readiness to collaborate with UPA in developing supply chain systems and leveraging the UPA’s strategic storage facilities, which would enhance product availability and reduce reliance on imports.
This meeting reflects the Authority’s continued dedication to fostering international partnerships that strengthen national industry and contribute to Egypt’s pharmaceutical security.
