New Administrative Capital, In a move to strengthen bilateral cooperation and exchange expertise in unified procurement and pharmaceutical supply, Dr. Hisham Stait, Chairman of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply, and the Management of Medical Technology (UPA), received a high-level delegation from the Republic of Sudan.

 

The Sudanese delegation included Dr. Badr El Din Elgezouli, Director-General of the National Fund for Medical Supplies (NFMS) in North Sudan, Dr. Sheikh El Din Abdel Baqi, Assistant Director-General for Administrative and Technical Affairs, and Dr. Khidir Faisal, Medical Attaché at the Sudanese Embassy in Cairo.

 

Strategic Procurement and Joint Capacity Building

During the meeting at the UPA Headquarters, the two sides explored avenues for collaboration in strategic unified procurement. This partnership aims to maximize resource utilization and strengthen the collective purchasing and negotiating capacities of both the Egyptian and Sudanese health systems.

 

Discussions also focused on the potential for implementing joint training programs designed to elevate the expertise of cadres working in medical supply, logistics, and unified procurement in both countries. UPA officials provided a comprehensive overview of the Authority’s modern work mechanisms for centralized supply of pharmaceuticals and medical devices, emphasizing its role in achieving efficiency and ensuring the sustained availability of medicines at both the national and regional levels.

Alignment with Historical Relations and Regional Vision

 

Both parties affirmed the profound and historical brotherly ties between Egypt and Sudan, stressing the need to boost health and pharmaceutical cooperation as a core pillar of these enduring relations. Such collaboration is vital for achieving sustainable development and enhancing health services in both nations.

 

Dr. Hisham Stait underscored the UPA’s keenness to strengthen cooperation with its Sudanese counterparts, expressing the Authority’s readiness to provide the necessary technical support and expertise to enhance supply and purchasing capabilities in Sudan. This commitment is in direct alignment with the directives of Egypt’s political leadership to boost African cooperation in the health sector.

 

Dr. Stait concluded by emphasizing that this partnership is consistent with Egypt Vision 2030, which aims to establish an integrated and sustainable health system. The initiative actively seeks to expand regional and international partnerships, thereby cementing Egypt’s strategic position as a regional hub for unified procurement and medical supply across Africa and the Middle East.
