الهيئة المصرية للشراء الموحد (UPA) تناقش التعاون مع أسترازينيكا لتوطين تصنيع الأدوية الحيوية وإنشاء مركز توزيع إقليمي
As part of Egypt’s national efforts to localize pharmaceutical manufacturing and strengthen cooperation with global partners, Dr. Hesham Stait, Chairman of the Egyptian Unified Procurement Authority (UPA), received a high-level delegation from AstraZeneca.
The meeting reviewed the latest developments in localizing the production of several biopharmaceutical products in Egypt, in alignment with the government’s strategy to enhance domestic manufacturing and advance technology transfer within the healthcare sector.
During the discussions, AstraZeneca proposed designating Egypt as its Regional Distribution Hub for the Middle East and Africa — a strategic move that would make Egypt the central point for distributing the company’s pharmaceutical products across the region. The proposal highlighted the opportunity to leverage UPA’s advanced infrastructure and national network of strategic warehouses to support this regional supply role.
Dr. Stait reaffirmed UPA’s commitment to expanding partnerships with leading global companies, emphasizing that such collaborations reinforce Egypt’s position as a regional center for pharmaceutical manufacturing and medical supply exports, in line with the country’s vision for sustainable industrial and healthcare development.
