مصر تواصل مبادرتها الصحية الرئاسية في جيبوتي لدعم المرضى ضعاف السمع

In continuation of the directives of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to strengthen Egypt’s support for the health sector in the Republic of Djibouti, the Egyptian Unified Procurement Authority (UPA), in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Population, has launched the second phase of the Presidential Initiative for Hearing Screening and Rehabilitation in Djibouti.

This initiative follows the outcomes of President El-Sisi’s visit to Djibouti and his meeting with H.E. President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh in April of this year. The first phase, implemented in May 2024, successfully provided hearing examinations and installed 120 hearing aids for Djiboutian patients.

On Sunday, November 2, 2025, the Egyptian medical delegation arrived in Djibouti to commence the second phase of the program, which includes the installation of an additional 90 hearing aids for patients in need.

As part of its collaboration with leading global medical technology companies, Dr. Hesham Stait, Chairman of the Egyptian Unified Procurement Authority (UPA), met with a delegation from GE Healthcare following the company’s field visit to UPA’s strategic warehouses currently under construction in the New Administrative Capital.

The GE delegation expressed great admiration for the project’s design standards and execution quality, noting the precision and advanced infrastructure that reflect Egypt’s remarkable progress in logistics and healthcare development.

During the meeting, both parties discussed the local manufacturing of advanced medical devices, including ultrasound systems, MRI machines, and intraoperative imaging equipment, as part of Egypt’s national efforts to localize medical device production and reduce dependence on imports.
