In alignment with the Egyptian government’s efforts to attract investment into the healthcare sector and support the diversification of the national economy, the Egyptian Unified Procurement Authority (UPA) – through its affiliated companies – has been engaged in negotiations with Ivara Group (USA), a leading global company specialized in medical waste management systems.
The aim of this cooperation is to establish a new company dedicated to the transportation and treatment of medical waste in Egypt, in accordance with the latest international, environmentally sustainable standards—representing a major investment opportunity in light of the rapid growth of Egypt’s healthcare sector and fully aligned with the objectives of Egypt Vision 2030.
Under the esteemed patronage of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, and in the presence of Dr. Hesham State, Chairman of UPA, and Dr. Osama Abdel Baset, Chairman of the Egyptian Medical Investments Company (one of UPA’s subsidiaries), a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Strategic Stores Company for Medical Products & Devices and Ivara Group. The MoU marks the launch of field studies—one of the key phases preceding the establishment of the anticipated joint company in the field of medical waste transport and treatment.
On the sidelines of the MoU signing, the Ivara delegation, accompanied by representatives of the Saudi-based Software Makers Company, the group’s technological arm, visited the Strategic Stores Complex for Medical Products & Devices in the New Administrative Capital. The delegation commended Egypt’s significant progress in enhancing healthcare-related infrastructure and logistics projects—including the Strategic Stores project—and expressed strong interest in future collaboration.
In parallel, several technical meetings were held between representatives of Ivara Group, Software Makers Company, the Egyptian Medical Investments Company, and DAF Company to explore potential cooperation opportunities in digital transformation and the development of advanced digital platforms, particularly within the medical sector.
