On the sidelines of the Huawei Connect 2025 Conference held in Shanghai, China, Dr. Hesham Stait, Chairman of the Egyptian Unified Procurement Authority (UPA), participated alongside Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, in a meeting with Mr. Hao Wu, CEO of Mindray, a leading global company specializing in medical devices and healthcare solutions.

The meeting was also attended by Mr. Khaled Nazmy, Egypt’s Ambassador to China, and Dr. Ahmed El-Ezaby, one of the country’s prominent pharmaceutical investors.

During the event, Dr. Hesham Stait emphasized that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mindray represents a strategic milestone toward localizing medical device manufacturing in Egypt and ensuring sustainable availability of high-quality, competitively priced technologies. He noted that this partnership underscores UPA’s pivotal role in attracting foreign investment, advancing industrial cooperation, and supporting Egypt’s vision for healthcare development and self-sufficiency.

For his part, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar highlighted the importance of accelerating technology transfer and local production to strengthen Egypt’s medical industries. The delegation also toured Mindray’s advanced manufacturing facilities, reviewing the stages of production for cutting-edge medical devices.
