UPA Supports National Workshop on Oncology Pharmacovigilance in Partnership with EDA
In a joint effort to reinforce patient safety standards and optimize the lifecycle management of specialized medical supplies, the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply, and the Management of Medical Technology (UPA) collaborated with the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) to host a critical workshop on Pharmacovigilance in Oncology.
The workshop, which focused on both drugs and medical supplies used in cancer treatment, brought together representatives from various health sectors, including leading oncology hospitals from Cairo and Ain Shams Universities. The session saw active participation from over 35 dedicated pharmacists and physicians across the nation’s oncology hospitals and institutes, reflecting their high level of expertise and commitment.
Enhancing Safety and Reporting Mechanisms
The core agenda of the workshop was to address the specific challenges involved in applying pharmacovigilance to oncology pharmaceutical products and medical supplies, which often carry unique risks. Key topics included:
- Strategies for overcoming pharmacovigilance implementation challenges in the oncology domain.
- Detailed review of Egypt’s Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) reporting system and reporting mechanisms for adverse events related to oncology drugs and medical supplies.
- A discussion of prior regulatory measures taken to guarantee the safety of Egyptian patients.
UPA’s Commitment to Quality and Safety
