Cairo, In line with the State’s strategy to localize modern pharmaceutical industries and strengthen strategic partnerships with major global companies operating in the Egyptian market, Dr. Hisham Stateet, Chairman of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply, and the Management of Medical Technology (UPA), met with the leadership of Novartis International.
The meeting focused on reviewing Novartis’s latest achievements in Egypt and discussing future plans concerning innovative pharmaceutical manufacturing and supply.
During the meeting, Novartis leadership showcased the company’s continuous efforts to support Egypt’s pharmaceutical system through the expansion and localization of advanced drug manufacturing. They affirmed their commitment to continuing this localization policy to serve the needs of both the Egyptian and African markets, aligning perfectly with the national vision for achieving pharmaceutical self-sufficiency.
A key highlight of the discussion was Novartis’s confirmed commitment to supplying innovative medicines, particularly those crucial for the treatment of rare diseases, at the best possible prices. This commitment ensures the availability of specialized treatments for the Egyptian child, supporting national efforts to provide safe, effective, and specialized pharmacological care for all vulnerable groups, especially children.
Dr. Hisham Stait commended the role of Novartis as one of the oldest pharmaceutical companies operating in Egypt, noting its presence in the Egyptian market for over six decades. He acknowledged the company’s tangible contributions to introducing the latest pharmaceutical innovations, facilitating technology transfer, and developing human capacities within the health sector.
The UPA Chairman underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation between the Authority and leading global companies to bolster the national pharmaceutical industry and achieve drug security for Egypt.
